Founded by a group of young friends in Barcelona, Thinking Mu joined the fashion world with a very casual and fun approach to clothing, but with a shared goal; to use fashion as an instrument for social change. Today they are true pioneers in their field. Their approach to the fashion world goes against the grain, it’s bold, conscientious and playful all at the same time. Their brand’s style is driven by an attitude which is summed up beautifully in their logo: the sun. For them it symbolically encapsulates so much - the essence of long Mediterranean days in the sun, the positivism, the shiny people, the everyday opportunity and beginning, and a declaration to express that we are all awake and ready. As they say “what is more representative than the sun, shining indiscriminately on all things, to express this mass awakening?”
Their collections are both stylised and laid back, with a dash of a 60s influence, and graphic and abstract elements created using traditional crafts, such as hand-screened prints, block-printing and hand embroidery, which they favour over more ‘fast-fashion’ techniques.
They use ethically sourced materials, investing in the people who bring their designs to life and actively source new and innovative methods of fabric making. They use organically sourced fabrics, including polyester made out of recycled bottles and chrome-free leather. And their new innovation project uses recycled fibres and circular production processes to design entirely new garments out of old ones and waste products.
