SAYE are a brand going above and beyond to create sustainable, comfortable and effortlessly cool trainers.. and they're making the world a little bit greener in the process. Here's a little bit about their incredible story.
It all began when 3 young friends in Barcelona had the idea to create an online trainer brand that would plant trees for every sale. That beautiful idea blossomed into the brand we now know and love as SAYE. And five years on, over 290,000 trees have been planted.. and counting.
The team has expanded to 20 young members, all sharing the simple belief that change can happen. They are on a mission to facilitate the shift towards a more conscious lifestyle, alongside providing you with cool trainers you will want to wear for years. They are striving for a better future for our world and are committed to offering an alternative to the conventional footwear industry.
To date, their trainers have up to 39% less impact on carbon footprint compared to the conventional market. But they are not happy to stop there, they are a forward-thinking company that is constantly looking for new ways to create plant-based products using innovative, bio-based, recycled and organic materials. Their aim is to be part of a world that doesn’t rely on animal and non-renewable resources. They advocate sustainability through veganism, but are clear that vegan products need to also uphold an environmental commitment and cannot be made of plastic. The plastic they do use in production comes from clearing up ocean waste and transforming it into the linings inside the trainers.
And if that wasn’t enough, just to show you how innovative this brand are, take a look at one of their trainers, the M’89 Apple. The red accent is made from apple waste from the food industry. The leftovers from making juices, jams and other products are turned into powder which is then used to substitute oil derivatives and create a new material from 100% organic industrial waste. How ingenious is that!
The team at SAYE know they face a great challenge in their ambitions, but they firmly believe that today we cannot turn our backs on the damage we are causing to the planet. That’s why since they began, every time you buy a pair of trainers, they fund the growth of 2 trees in collaboration with the NGO ‘We Forest’. They even have a project Verdópolis which aims to fill our cities with nature, as the more green around us, the happier we are and the happier our planet is.
